Ok, so back to grind. Happy Monday!
Today's challenge from
abowlfulloflemons.blogspot.com was to organize the top of the computer desk. My computer desk doubles as my sewing desk, so things had gotten extremely out of hand. Here is quite the embarrassing peak at what was...

As you can see, sewing and Christmas had taken over. I don't even see my computer in this picture! The bulletin board had also gotten out of hand with coupons, lists, and other random junk. So I got to work (can you believe my 1 month old and 21 month old are both napping at the same time!? I took it as a sign from God that He wanted me to get organized today!!!). Here is my after picture.

I took everything down, scrubbed down all surfaces, and even used a furniture marker to color in scratches to the desk. (This desk is going straight to the dump whenever we move. This is my desk from when I was 10 years old! It is completely falling apart, but I'm waiting as long as I can before I have to make an expensive purchase.) Sewing items got organized and placed in the hutch. Trash was put in the trashcan - amazing, right? The only items that were left on the bulletin board were the items I wanted.
- A list of dates for when kids need to be vaccinated
- A list of 100 greatest movies of all time (another one of my new year's resolutions is to watch old, classic movies that I've never seen before. One will be watched each month, starting with the Godfather!)
- Babies R Us gift certificates
- Important Phone Numbers for sitters
- My Wish List (I was tired of never knowing what to say when people ask what they can get me. Now I keep a list for me, my husband, and kids, so I remember things when I go shopping!)
- A list of Dave Ramsey's 7 Steps to Financial Freedom! We've only done 3 steps, but I keep this in front of me to motivate me to save more, spend less, and achieve our financial goals! Read more about Dave Ramsey's 7 Baby Steps at http://www.daveramsey.com/new/baby-steps/.

| To the left of the computer desk - a work in progress. |
Of course, here is an old organizing project, still in pretty good shape. All of my scrapbooking projects are stored here as well as the items I need (on top) to teach my son's 2 year old class on Fridays.
I still have lots of work to do, but I'm feeling pretty good about my progress the last few days. If you want to join the challenge, come on! Visit

This looks great!
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job. I like the list of movies. You know, I've never seen a bunch of them either. Once in 8th grade, Marysol and I watched Breakfast at Tiffany's. Does that count?
ReplyDeleteWow, so much better! Now it's functional. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone!
ReplyDeleteAnd Olivia, Breakfast at Tiffany's is on my list!!!
