Homeschool, Week 4 (The Letter B)

This is a pretty long post, so be warned! We had a busy week working on the letter B. Since we had a lot going on this week, we actually extended the letter B week into 1.5 weeks, and the next week was busy and we had several sick days (Eli and Kate both have colds with fevers!), so we spent 1.5 weeks on the letter C. Hopefully, we can get into a better schedule in September.

We had a lot of fun with the letter B. Eli gets excited for Kate to nap in the mornings so we can get to work. This is what how we did school this week...

A basket of balls to play with and ABC books... Eli started matching his magnetic ABC letters with the letters on the front of these books; he was so proud of this discovery, because he is slightly obsessed with telling us when things are "the same."

This week's activities... Cherry pie playdough mat (making balls), coloring sheets, matching the "balls" (pom poms) with the sequencing paper, putting the "balls" on the cupcakes as sprinkles, matching the "balls" with the right color, and gluing a ball on a seal's nose.

Did I mention we did water balloons, too, this week?

Ah, the face of a hopeful child, knowing that his mother's activity will be fun...

Hm... what's going on???

Um, Mommy, this isn't very fun.

Ok, seriously, Mom, put more water in the balloons next time!!!

Good thing we have a nice fire escape as our front porch to help in times like these!!!

Matching colors - Eli loves this one!

Making playdough "balls" -  he liked to squish the balls, but he had fun!

Making cupcakes

Eli likes to pretend to be Cookie Monster, so he pretended to eat his creation.

Of course, he said, "Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum..." while he did this.

Must be a delicious cupcake.

Coloring the Bs

Matching/sequencing

Coloring the balls on the letters

I had Eli color the "little" Bs first and then the "big" Bs. He only made one mistake on accident!

We always stop our more structured school time when Kate wakes up. Eli likes to get in bed with her and play with her. They have so much fun every time. Eli turns on her mobile for her and bounces her in the crib, and she laughs and laughs. I love how much they love each other!
We ended the week by painting with balls...

Tape down the paper, add paint, add a ball, and...

roll the ball!
The finished product! Too cute!

So tempting. Eli couldn't help himself and just had to touch it! :)

We also did some of our usual computer time, too:
And a short video of Eli doing his schoolwork. He has a minor meltdown at the end, but hey, he's 2. What more do you expect? :)
